Caffe Vita's Sumatra Gayo River whole bean coffee is dark roasted with a rich, dense flavor. The Gayo people of northern Sumatra use a traditional coffee processing method known as "Giling Basah" to create a powerfully aromatic, full bodied profile with earthy tones. The resulting coffee has well balanced flavors of blackberry, vanilla, baking spice, smoke and fresh hops.
Caffe Vita partners with a coffee cooperative in the lake-side town of Takengon in Sumatra. Their coffee bean supply comes from the farms of Jagong, a fertile valley south of Takengon.
